DomainKeys Identified Mail, or DKIM, is a system for confirming the legitimacy of an email using a digital signature. When DKIM is activated for a certain domain, a public cryptographic key is published to the global Domain Name System and a private one is kept on the email server. If a new message is sent, a signature is generated using the private key and when the email message is received, the signature is authenticated by the incoming POP3/IMAP email server using the public key. Thus, the receiver can easily know if the email is genuine or if the sender’s address has been spoofed. A mismatch will occur if the content of the email message has been altered on its way as well, so DomainKeys Identified Mail can also be used to ensure that the sent and the delivered emails are identical and that nothing has been attached or deleted. This validation system will strengthen your email safety, as you can verify the genuineness of the important emails that you get and your colleagues can do the same with the messages that you send them. Based on the particular mail service provider’s adopted policy, an email message that fails to pass the check may be removed or may end up in the recipient’s inbox with a warning sign.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail option is enabled by default for all domain names that are hosted in a hosting account on our cloud web hosting platform, so you will not need to do anything on your end to enable it. The sole requirement is that the particular domain name should be hosted in a website hosting account on our platform using our MX and NS resource records, so that the e-mails will go through our mail servers. The private cryptographic key will be generated on the server and the TXT record, which contains the public key, will be published to the global DNS system automatically, so you will not need to do anything manually on your end in order to enable this option. The DKIM email validation system will permit you to send trustable email messages, so if you’re sending offers or a newsletter to clients, for instance, your emails will always reach their target viewers, whereas unauthorized third parties will not be able to spoof your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All mandatory DomainKeys Identified Mail records will be created automatically by our cloud platform when you add a domain name as hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, so in case you choose to get a semi-dedicated hosting package, you will not have to configure anything to be able to use the email validation system. The domain name must use our name servers in order for its DNS resource records to be managed by us and provided that this prerequisite is fulfilled, a private encryption key will be generated on our mail servers and a public key will be sent to the DNS database by a special TXT resource record. All email addresses that you create with the domain will be protected by DKIM, which will make it impossible for third parties to spoof any email address. Both you and your partners or clients can take advantage of this option, as it will guarantee a higher level of protection for your email correspondence.
